José (“Joe”) Erminio Garduño (July 29, 1930-February 8, 2025) peacefully entered the eternal and loving presence of the Lord at 94 years old while surrounded by family in Sarasota Florida. A man of integrity, faith, and resilience, his life of strength and devotion has left an indelible mark on all privileged to have known him. Born in Salida, Colorado, to Antonio and Romanita Garduño, in an era that tested the fortitude of every soul, the Great Depression, José was one of 14 children. He joined the Army in 1951 and served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant from the Army Corps of Engineers. He wed his beloved wife, Lenore Sista Valdez and was devoted to her until her death in 1995. They settled in Carson, California, where José raised his sons James and Michael, and his daughter Patricia. José worked for McDonnell Douglas for over 30 years, until he retired to care for Lenore, who was incapacitated due to a series of strokes. For the last year and a half, he lived with his grandson in Sarasota, Florida. He passed away on February 8, 2025 at 3:08PM in the presence of family. He is survived by his son Michael, son-in-law Steve, his grandchildren Eric (Hilda), Lea (Dan), Kimberly, and Marena (Richard), and his great grandchildren Elenor, Victoria and Mateo. He will be remembered with a profound sense of love and gratitude.
