John G Oreb, age 68 of San Pedro, California passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. John, the son of Evelyn and Edward Oreb, was born September 20, 1948 in San Jose California. John was preceded in death by his father Edward Oreb, mother and stepfather Evelyn and Ed Rozwadowski and his sister Arla Jean Ferguson. He leaves behind many who loved him: his wife of 32 years, Yolanda, daughters Michelle Yale (Chris), Sheila Garcia and son Ernie Garcia, grandsons Rico Garcia, Christopher and Sebastian Yale, granddaughter Antonia Garcia, and great-granddaughter Luna Joe Garcia. John is also survived by sisters Rosemary Oreb Shultz (David),
Kathy Webber, brother Mark Rozwadowski, aunt and uncle Genny and John Buchanan, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews and friends.
Over the years John was employed by Pacific Bell, Stephen Label Graphics and the Mary and Joseph Retreat Center in Rolling Hills. He was a member of the San Pedro Wednesday Club and a team member of the RCIA program at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. John met the love of his life; Yolanda Galindo and they were wed on June 30, 1984. Together they enjoyed going to the movies, theatre plays (especially in New York), and traveling. They spent a month traveling through Europe last summer. John will always be remembered for his cooking, quick wit, story telling and sense of humor. John knew how precious life was and had the gift of giving love to all unconditionally. He opened his heart and home to family and friends. He enjoyed hosting family events and celebrations, Christmas Eve Family dinner and the annual family tamale making party, to name a few.
A viewing and rosary will be held at 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 22, 2017. 10 AM mass will be on Thursday, February 23, 2017 with interment immediately following the mass. Both the rosary and mass will be at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1292 W. Santa Cruz, San Pedro. There will be no procession to cemetery; those wishing to attend the burial can drive directly to Green Hills Mortuary Cemetery at 27501 S. Western Ave., Rancho Palos Verdes.
