John Joseph Greaney

John Joseph Greaney, 89, of Harbor City, California, passed away peacefully August 22, 2018, at Westcoast Board and Care Facility, Torrance, California surrounded by family.

He was born January 15, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of late James and Hannah Greaney. He was the oldest of 2 siblings.
On February 6, 1993, he married Lena Ivanov Greaney who survives.

He graduated from Loyola University, Chicago, Illinois in 1951 with a B.S. Degree in Business Commerce and a Master Of Business Administration Degree from DePaul University, Chicago, Illinois in 1959. He served in the U.S. Army as an Artillery Officer in the 1950’s. After his discharge, he pursued his career in business marketing and sales until retiring in 1995. He was a devoted member of St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church, dedicated member of the Elk’s Lodge, had a passion for playing golf and a palate for a good steak and glass of chardonnay.

He is survived by his loving wife and family, Lena Ivanov Greaney of Harbor City, CA, 6 children, 3 step-children, 16 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 1 sibling.

A viewing and service is being held on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM at Green Hills Mortuary & Memorial Chapel, 27501 So. Western Ave., Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275.
