John Reuben Gates

John R. Gates, 91 years old, passed on October 28, 2016. John was the only child born to John T. Gates and Agda Sten-Gates on October 10, 1925 in Los Angeles, CA. He was raised in Inglewood, attended and graduated from Inglewood High School in 1943. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He attended and graduated from Pepperdine University in 1951. He moved to Rancho Palos Verdes with his wife, Patricia in 1972 and divorced in 1985. John was employed by Douglas Aircraft in El Segundo and by the City of Inglewood for 35-years.

He is survived by his life partner of 31 years, Frances Fernandez and her daughter, Lisa Crosier and her granddaughter Ally Crosier; step-son, Robert Glen Islas, his wife Debra and his daughters, Tessa and Robin along with his granddaughters, Serenity and Phoenix. John is also survived by his cousins: Diane, Laura, Daniel and Sarah Gates, Beth (Gates) Reid, Cathy Gates and Bill (Sten) Bjorkman.
