John Christian Fink

John Fink, son of Christian and Martha Fink, died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 79. He was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan and earned a Bachelors degree in Engineering from General Motors Institute, and his Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from USC. John served his country as a pilot in the US Navy and as a Weekend Warrior in the Naval Reserves in Los Alamitos. He had a long and successful career at TRW Space Systems, starting as an engineer and retiring as a Program Manager in 1992. John and his family have been long time residents of Rancho Palos Verdes and are thankful for being able to live on this beautiful Peninsula. John loved the Lord, his family, friends, being active in his church, singing in the Sanctuary Choir, participating in the Pageant Of Our Lord, golf and family trips. John is survived by his beloved wife Rita (of 56 years); children, David and Daniel Fink, Jill (Victor) White, and grandsons, Steven, Brian and Kevin. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 from 4-8 pm at Green Hills Mortuary. On Wednesday, May 2, 2012 the interment will be held at 10 am at Green Hills in Rancho Palos Verdes followed by the Memorial Service at 1 pm at Rolling Hills Covenant Church, North Campus, 2221 Palos Verdes Drive North, Rolling Hills Estates. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Rolling Hills Covenant Church for its Childrens Campaign. John loved children and taught Sunday School for many years. The "Childrens Campaign" is raising funds to build much needed Sunday School rooms. In the memo of the check please write "Childrens Campaign" and send it to the address above.
