John Manuel Barajas

John M. Barajas died on October 27, 2023 in his home in Torrance California. He was a lifelong resident of the Torrance area. Mr. Barajas was born on November 25, 1939 to Clemente and Julia Barajas, owners of the historical Shoestring Market. The market was located on Carson street and serviced the south bay area for many years.

John worked in a family-owned company ‘Barajas Paving’ with his oldest brother for many years constructing roads and driveways locally and all the way to the Virginia state Lion Country Safari. No one who met John Barajas forgot his infectious passion for his family, his Pontiac GTO, his love for music with emphasis on Bob Dylan and his trusted companion, Rocky.

On September 1, 1959 John married Marilyn Hayes in the Wayfarers Chapel. They were married for over fifty years.

John was a beloved family man who leaves to cherish his memory: his children John Michael Barajas and Sheri Pinkston, his brothers Clemente and Raymond Barajas, his grandchildren Eddie, Brian and Justin Pinkston, Samantha Barajas-Hollingshead, Josh, Jennifer, and Chris Compian, His great grandchildren Zoey, Charlotte and Violet Pinkston and a host of other close relatives and friends.
