Joerline Miralles of Carson, California passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Harbor UCLA Medical Center, surrounded by family members and care givers. Joerline was born March 20, 1927 in Guadalupe, California. She was 95 years old.
Also known to her nieces and nephews as “Auntie Dee” and “Auntie JoJo”, she was the eldest daughter and second eldest child of Gelasius and Petra Olarte who were born in the Philippines. Joerline and her 9 siblings were all born in the United States.
Joerline’s brothers and sisters preceded her in death: Bernaldo, Anne, Elizabeth (also known as Bingo), Jim, Joseph, Valentino, Delores and Josephine. Joerline’s youngest sister, Janet San Jose, is the only surviving sibling.
Joerline was the inspiration for 17 nieces and nephews and dozens of great nieces and great nephews.
In life, Joerline was a positive, caring, involved sister and auntie. She was a valued legal secretary in the Los Angeles Harbor Department, serving for 30 years. She was active with her family, always attending weddings, confirmations, baptisms, birthdays and anniversaries. She enjoyed traveling throughout her life, especially with family.
Later in her life, Joerline was actively involved in the Carson Chamber of Commerce where she participated in many city and senior activities.
In her last years, Joerline enjoyed the company of Toby, her faithful canine companion. Toby is still looking for her.
