Joe Fasani

January 7, 2015 — October 13, 2015

Joe was born January 7, 1928 in Chicago. Six years later his mother, Virginia, and, father Louie, moved the family to what was hoped to be a better life in California. Joe's brother, Albert, joined the family in 1941. Joe helped the family with whatever jobs he could find. He worked at Howard Hartry's, a milk deliverer, a butcher shop, J.C. Penny's, and others. Joe joined the U.S. Navy in 1946, was primarily stationed in Guam and was released from duty in 1948. Joe's big love was bowling. He started in San Pedro and became an excellent bowler. He was a member of the USBC participating in over 30 national championships. Joe joined the Redondo Beach Elks and enjoyed over 56 years as a member. In 1972, Joe was voted Exalted Ruler of Lodge No. 1378 and fulfilled his duties with ambition and pride. He was well liked and described as a wonderful, hardworking member. Joe was also a member of the ILWU in San Pedro, spending many years in Local 13, later being promoted to foreman in Local 93. He retired in 1995 after 41 years of service. Joe married Irene "Rani" Lecce and they were blessed with two children: Deborah (Allen) and son Gary, grandchildren Andrea and Shaun (Allen), Gary's daughter Danielle, and later a great-grand daughter, Riley. Joe's wife, Rani, fell ill and passed away in 1994. He later married Patricia Blanshan, enjoying many adventures and side trips together until his passing in 2015. He will be sorely missed by all who have known and loved him throughout his 87 years of life. God Bless Joe Fasani. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Lodge No. 1378 would be appreciated. Visitation will be held Tuesday October 20, 2015 from 3pm-8pm at Green Hills Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Wednesday October 21, 2015 at 9:00am at Green Hills Memorial Chapel.
