Joe E. Avila

It is with great sadness the Avila family announces the passing of our beloved Joe E. Avila on September 9, 2014. He was born March 7, 1926 in Visalia, California to Nicolas and Crispina Avila. He was the eleventh of twelve children.
The last remaining child, Rito Avila, of Huntington Beach and a large family survives him. Joe was an 80 year resident of San Pedro. He served in the armed forces and retired from the Long Beach Naval Shipyard, specializing in radar technology.
Joe now joins his beloved wife, Lola Paini Avila, who he married in Italy on April 20, 1947. Lola passed away on February 12, 2004.
Viewing will be on Tuesday from 5 to 9pm with a Rosary at 7pm in Green Hills Memorial Chapel. Funeral mass will take place at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 10am followed by burial in Green Hills Memorial Park.
