Jillian Nicole Katnic-Fought
March 18, 1987 - October 11, 2018
Our beautiful Jillian went home to be with Jesus on October 11, 2018 at the age of 31. Born to Debbie Hughes and Joe Katnic in San Pedro, CA on March 18, 1987, Jillian had a beautiful spirit and a kind heart and would do anything for anybody. Jillian was everyone’s ray of sunshine, loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. She was an amazing cook and loved to prepare specialty dishes, take photos and share them on social media. She was an exercise enthusiast and at one time taught Pilates. A menagerie of dogs, cats and tortoises is one of the many testaments showing her great love for animals. She had been known to come across stray animals, scoop them up, take them home and ensure that they found good homes. Jillian attended Christ Lutheran School until the 7th grade, Miraleste Intermediate School and Palos Verdes Peninsula High School. Later on, she attended Los Angeles Harbor College and then California State University - Long Beach, ultimately pursuing a career in Nutrition and Dietetics. This was her passion, having received her bachelor’s degree in that field. Shortly after, she successfully completed an internship at the VA Hospital in Westwood earning a Registered Dietitian credential. This led to her dream job working in the Dietetics Department at Memorial Hospital of Gardena. Just recently, Jillian had signed up for the master’s program at Long Beach and was looking forward to furthering her education for the work she so loved. Jillian is survived by her husband, Grant Fought Jr., “Jr.”, parents Debbie Hughes and Joe Katnic (Marissa), brothers Eric (Thesa) and Jeffrey (Norma), nephews Scott and Jeremy and niece June, grandmothers Pauline Hughes and Marie Katnic, Aunts and Uncles Diane and Jerry Rodin, Terry Katnic, Frank and Yessie Gomez, Aunt and Godmother Sandy Torgersrud and her beloved Pit Bull Willie. A visitation will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018, at Green Hills Memorial Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. at Green Hills Memorial Chapel.
Wherever a beautiful soul has been, a lasting impression remains.
