Jesse Rodriguez 1948 – 2022
It is with deep sorrow and profound sadness that we mourn the passing of our beloved Jesse
Rodriguez, of Rancho Palos Verdes, on November 27, 2022, after a courageous battle with
cancer. Jesse was born on October 12, 1948, in Havana, Cuba to Ignacio and Cira Rodriguez. His
family left shortly after the Cuban revolution began, arriving in California in 1964, where he
completed his high school education at Narbonne High School. He went on to earn a bachelor’s
degree from the California State University of Long Beach, followed by a Juris Doctor degree
from Northrop Law School. Jesse began his dedicated career in the judicial system as a Los
Angeles County Assistant District Attorney, then a Torrance City Prosecutor. He went on to
become a Commissioner of the Court in the city of Downey and was later appointed as a Los
Angeles County Superior Court Judge, proudly serving in Downey, and subsequently, in Long
Beach.
Jesse was a sincere and honorable man of many passions. Restoring older Porsches was
undeniably his most loved pastime, which he enjoyed for many years. He also loved to travel
and was always up for an adventure. He stayed active, enjoying regular walks and hikes, and
genuinely loved spending quality time with his family and friends. At gatherings, you could
usually find him visiting with each person present, laughing or making others laugh, and if there
was a dance floor, you could find him there as well.
Jesse is survived and will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 44 years, Myrna; his sons
Christopher and Ryan, his brothers, Tomas and Andre, his nephew and niece, Elliot, and Audrey,
as well as other numerous relatives and friends.
A memorial service and Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends. In lieu of flowers,
memorial donations may be made to cancer research.
