Jerry F. Rodin

Jerry Frank Rodin passed away, Thursday, November 14, 2013. Jerry was born September 15, 1924 in San Pedro, California, to Frank and Visca Rodin. He attended Maine Township High School in Des Plaines, Illinois. In defense of his Country during World War II, he enlisted in the US Army in 1943, as a rifleman, in the African, Middle Eastern and European Theater of Operations with the Combat Infantry. He served with Company F, 246th Infantry Regiment, 66th Infantry Division, participating in combat action in France, Austria, Switzerland and Germany. Following his Honorable Discharge from the US Army, at Fort Bliss, Texas in 1946, he married Anne B. Hutton in 1953 at St. Louis Parish Church in Yeadon, PA, and later joined the US Air Force Reserve. Jerry was Honorably Discharged from the 111th Air Base Squadron of the Air National Guard of Pennsylvania, as Staff Sergeant, in March of 1959. Jerry has resided in San Pedro since that time. He was a Marine Hardware Chandler until his retirement. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years and is survived by his daughter Loretta, son Jerry C. (Diane) Rodin, grand-daughter Allison Rodin, great grandson Jason and his sister Kay Hanson of Orange County, many nieces and nephews. A devout Catholic Jerry loved his family, who will miss him dearly. Truly a man of "The Greatest Generation". Visitation will be held at Green Hills Mortuary, 27501 Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with rosary to follow, Thursday, November 21, 2013. Funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity Church, 1226 W. Santa Cruz Street, San Pedro, on Friday, November 22, 2013 at 10:00 a.m., with internment to follow at Green Hills Memorial Park.
