Jerome "Jerry" Malcom Rodstein

Jerry Rodstein, owner of Master Fishing Tackle Corp. and an icon in the sporting goods industry, left on his eternal fishing trip on Sunday, October 13, his wife LaVonne and family at his side. He was 88.

A resident of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, Jerry was renown for his love of the sea, boating and creating unique fishing rods. A global businessman, he sold to distributors all over the world.

One of three children of Louis and Mildred Rodstein, Jerry was born on September 24, 1931, in Los Angeles CA.

His love of the ocean led him to join the United States Navy, which stationed him in San Diego. Before settling into his passion for fishing rods and tackle, he tried his hand at a few businesses. But eventually the sporting goods industry won.

Along with marrying the love of his life, LaVonne, 51 years ago, founding Master Fishing Tackle in 1967 was a dream come true. Not only did the company allow his creativity to flourish, it cemented lifelong friendships and memories.

Jerry loved spending time with LaVonne and their dogs at their home in Lake Arrowhead. He also enjoyed fishing in Mexico on his boat, Los Companeros, with good friends and family.

Jerry will be remembered for joy he bought into our lives - He will be forever in our hearts.
