It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Mullin. She was born on June 11, 1937 In Salt Lake City and returned to her Heavenly Father from her home in Lomita on October 3. Jean is the daughter of Winifred and Burdette Brimley. She was preceded in death by both parents, her son Steven, her brothers Duane and Gary,(LeAnn) and sister Beverly. She is survived by her husband Mike, her twin sister Jan and three children, Dan Mullin, (Hayley) Todd Mullin, and Sherri Hammond (Madison). Her family is also composed of twelve grandchildren, Morgan Mullin, Chase Mullin, Julia Varela, Ella Mullin, Dylan Mullin, Kira Mullin, Jordan Prince, Natasha Prince, Carter Prince, Alex Prince, Scarlett Prince, and Alden Prince. Her niece, Michelle, has always been considered part of the Mullin family.
Jean's first five years were spent in Salt Lake City and then her parents moved to Torrance. She and her siblings attended Torrance Elementary and spent many hours playing at Torrance Park. It wasn't long until her father built a home on Calle Mayor Street in Hollywood Rivera. Jean loved that home because she and Jan could walk to the beach. Both attended Torrance High School and were active in many clubs and sports. They also had jobs scooping ice cream in a department store in downtown Torrance.
After high school Jean attended El Camino College and worked at North American Aviation as a key punch operator. Mike and Jean met at a Church dance at USC. They dated for a year and decided they were meant for each other so they married young and began a happy marriage that lasted for sixty five years.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held many callings. Her calm demeanor, positive outlook, love of family and infectious smile were traits that were admired by all. She worked as a teacher's aide and was in the real estate business as a salesperson, secretary, and as owner of a Century 21 franchise. She and her family spent many fun filled years at their second home on the Colorado River. After her children were raised she and her husband were able to travel to many interesting places including Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Europe and China. They were also able to travel to over 50 cities to watch their nephew play high school, college, minor league and major league baseball.
Unfortunately, the last several years were difficult for her as she slipped deeper into dementia. She never complained and her loving spirit gave comfort to all her friends and family. Her last words were "I love you."
