Jau-Li Lin Liaw

May 12, 1939 — February 16, 2025

Jau-li Lin Liaw passed away at age 85 on February 16, 2025, in Torrance, CA of metastatic ovarian cancer. She was born in Chiayi, Taiwan and was a graduate of the National Chengchi University. She then immigrated to the US to pursue graduate education, and soon thereafter met and married Goang-tzer (“George”) Liaw. She loved traveling with her late husband and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She and George lived in Massachusetts for the majority of their lives and then moved to Torrance, CA in 2007, then to Rancho Mission Viejo, CA in 2022. She is survived by her older sister, Joanne Kuo, of Taipei, Taiwan; her younger sister, Amy Tsai, of Lancaster, PA; her son William (wife Patricia Chiu) of Needham, MA; her daughter Sandra (husband Darren Maddern) of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; her son Stephen (wife Annie Chu) of Palos Verdes Estates, CA, and her grandchildren (Ashley, Amanda, Avery, Damian, and Audrey). She leaves behind many friends in Torrance, CA and Rancho Mission Viejo, CA, where she most recently lived at the Reata Glen retirement community. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park on March 15, 2025.
