Janice Marie Kollar passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on June 1, 2021. She was born in January 1954 in Santa Monica, CA and lived all her life in the South Bay area of Los Angeles. She is survived by her beloved husband of 23 years, Robert Kollar, sister Kathy Lynn Baus, and her brother Richard William Arnold. Preceded in death by her parents: William Theodore Arnold and Sophie Marie, and her sister Susan Ann Portune.
Janice was an observer of life and had an eye for detail. She loved art and was an accomplished black and white photographer. Twenty years ago she started a very successful business in Fine Art Restoration. She and her husband travelled extensively throughout Western Europe, Mexico, and the US. Their favorite country in Europe was Italy, the people, the art and the food.
Jan and Bob loved each other deeply and were very best friends. Together they completely restored a diamond-in-the-rough house in Rancho Palos Verdes and created a beautiful warm home that reflected Janice’s artistic eye for color and balance. The house sat on a bluff overlooking a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean, Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands, and a white water shoreline. The sunsets were magnificent and Jan and Bob called them “Today’s Gift”.
Janice is to be remembered by her many friends (some for over sixty years) and family members as a loving, caring, positive, adventurous, and a fun person with a wonderful sense of humor.
A memorial service and celebration of her life is being planned and information is forthcoming.
Janice will be missed dearly…
