Janet Matsuko Nakamura

Janet was born in Lahaina, Hawaii on March 27, 1936. She lived in Hawaii until earning a business degree from Honolulu Business College in 1956. Janet moved to the mainland after earning her business degree where she eventually met James Nakamura. They fell in love and they married in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 9, 1961.

They were blessed with two sons. Guy was born on November 10, 1964 and Troy was born on September 26, 1968. The family enjoyed taking annual summer vacations in Hawaii. Janet began working at Foods Company after her two sons grew older and worked as a checker in various markets for over 20 years. After retiring, she enjoyed travelling around the world with her husband and friends.

Janet’s son, Guy, later married Sheila and Janet was further blessed with two grandsons, Alec and Charles. Janet’s favorite activity was watching Charles’ basketball games. Her favorite question was “Does Charlie have a game today?” which she would ask daily and always more than once.

Janet is preceded in passing by her husband, James Nakamura. Janet is survived by her two sons, Guy and Troy, her two grandsons, Alec and Charles, and her daughter-in-law, Sheila.
