James, the son of Alfred and Mary Pitman, was born December 6, 1931 in West Plains, Missouri and passed away October 30, 2011 in Torrance, California. James retired after 27 years as a detective from Los Angeles Police Dept., Harbor Division in 1980. After retirement, he became an amateur radio operator, WA6MZV at the Maritime Museum in San Pedro, California. He enjoyed meeting and greeting people at United Radio Amateur Club (URAC) and talking with people around the world. James is survived by Beverly, the love of his life and wife of 51 years; a brother, Thomas Pitman, other relatives and a host of friends. The Memorial Service for Mr. Pitman will be Friday, October 7th at 1:00 p.m. at the Green Hills Memorial Chapel in Ranch Palos Verdes.
