James Fredric Johnson 87, of Omaha Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Friday July 1, 2022.
James was born on December 17, 1934 in Kansas City Missouri. He lived a life full of adventure, graduating from the University of Colorado with his Electrical Engineering Degree, where he truly became a rocket scientist, working on many projects for Aerospace Corporation. Jim helped place hundreds of government and military satellites in space.
Jim loved Formula 1 Racing, old western movies, sailing and was an avid Ham radio operator, serving for many years on the DCS for Emergency Communications Skills with the Rolling Hills Estates Sheriff’s department. Jim also loved, camping and horses, which he spent with his family, supporting his daughter Lauri, during her equestrian years, when she competed in the USHJA Hunter and Jumper disciplines, while driving around in his Clark Cortez Motorhome. He will always be remembered for his little jokes and sayings he had whenever he came over to visit.
He was proceeded in death by his father John, mother Kathleen, wife Peggy and brother Bill. Jim is survived by his daughter Lauri and her husband Tom, his two grandchildren and their spouses, TJ and Sabrina, Amanda and Nate, as well as his two great grandchildren, Lilianna and Dominic.
A celebration of life for Jim will be held on Saturday July 9, 2022 at 10:00 am, at The Mortuary at Green Hills Chapel, 27501 S. Western Ave. Rancho Palos Verdes CA.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to the American Heart Association.
