James Giamos

April 20, 1962 — July 1, 2015

James passed away in the early morning hours of July 1, 2015 at Harbor UCLA Medical Center from complications of esophageal cancer. He is finally at peace after a valiant 2 year battle fought with courage and determination. He was a beloved son, brother, colleague, and friend.

Jim is survived by his mother Ermione; his sister Angela; uncles Costas and George; many cousins and friends; his former spouse Isabel and her family, the Ungs; and his feline son BoBoy.

Jim was born in Baltimore, MD, and grew up in San Pedro. He attended White Point Elementary, Dana Jr. High, and graduated from San Pedro High School, Class of 1980. He worked for the County of Los Angeles for the last 17 years as an ISD Sr. Applications Developer. Prior to that, he was employed by Rockwell Int'l and local Greek favorite, Papadakis Taverna.

He enjoyed traveling, fast women, faster cars, great food, fine spirits, and a good laugh…most of all.
A viewing will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park, San Pedro in the Chapel on Friday, July 10 from 5-9 pm, with the memorial service beginning at 7 pm. As per Jim's wishes, his final resting place will be in Greece. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to any cancer charity, or animal rescue of your choice in Jim's memory.

We would like to express our Family's thanks to Dr. Roger Hartmann and Dr. Karen Kwan, the nurses of Kaiser Sunset 8th Fl. Oncology, and Kaiser Harbor City for their compassion in caring for Jim, always with dignity and respect. It meant a lot to him, and our appreciation is beyond words.
