James John Becker

James “Jim” John Becker, age 88, passed away on February 17, 2025, in Torrance, California. Born on November 27, 1936, in Little Rock, Iowa, Jim was the son of Trientje and John Becker.

Jim was a longtime resident of Lomita, California. He moved to Southern California looking for work and landed a job with the Metropolitan Water District where he was of service for 35 years. Jim was a devoted husband to Georgiana. They were married for over 61 years and made countless memories together from raising a family to cruising the seven seas. He was a dedicated father to Andrew, Joseph and daughter-in-law, Lisa. Jim was a proud and involved grandfather to his only grandchild, Jillian. He was preceded in death by his cherished son, Steven, and daughter-in-law, Maureen.

The youngest of fourteen children, Jim was part of a large, extended family. He leaves behind his numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Jim will be remembered as a kind, thoughtful and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. With hands that were never idle, he was always looking for an opportunity to help someone out.

He truly was a friend to all. To know Jim, was to love him.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 2PM at Green Hills Memorial Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes with a reception to follow.
