Ioanniki "Niki" Vlachos

December 12, 1924 — March 25, 2017

Ioanniki 'Niki' Vlachos MacDonald died of a progressive case of old age. Born in Mytilene, Greece on December 12, 1924, Niki and her siblings: Yiannis, Kiki, and Efstratios Vlachos loved their island of Lesbos.

She was raised in a suburb of Athens, Greece and a survivor of the German occupation of her beloved city. After the war she immigrated to a suburb near a London suburb and married a British soldier named Kent. Upon divorce she moved to join her brother Stratos and his family in sunny CA. She became a naturalized citizen in 1973 in the Golden state. This was a very proud moment not only for Niki but for her entire extended family.

She was extremely fashionable and will be remembered for her style and elegant wardrobe. She was proud to model clothes for Mailer's and The Dress Shop on Brand Blvd in Glendale, CA.

She loved her cars, particularly her metallic blue Corvair. It was her 'sports car.' It is rumored that Ralph Nadar's comment about Corvair's as 'unsafe at any speed' came from seeing Niki drive along Glenoaks Blvd.

She will forever be remembered for her love of the beach, Pacific Ocean and her countless bikinis. Her tan was deep and even , highlighting her Greek Orthodox cross that she religiously wore. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews and their spouses and children in California and to include London, England and Athens Greece. Tin afto pos toh lene agapi? Kalo taxthithee Thea Niki. May your star shine brightly.
