Inés De La Cruz Loera, of San Pedro, passed away peacefully at home on February 10, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 24, 1938, in Ensenada, Baja California. A devoted mother, Nana, great-Nana, great-great-Nana, sister, and Tía to many, she was and will always be the heartbeat of our family. She dedicated her life to caring for everyone she loved, offering resilience, wisdom (consejos), warm meals at her table, and unconditional love. She will be remembered for her warm smile, her love of cooking, recipes that will carry on for generations, her sense of humor, her stories about childhood with her sisters, and her memories of her husband, Manuel. She took pride in her family and raised all of her grandchildren, sharing a unique bond with each of her granddaughters and grandsons. We always knew there would be a day when we would have to say goodbye, but we weren’t prepared for the depth of pain her departure has left us. She knitted our family together with her sacrifices, tears, laughter, and prayers. We promise to never unravel the legacy she left behind. She is survived by her children Manuel F. Loera, Rosario (Shadow) Amezola, Ignacio Loera, and Abel N. Loera; 5 grandsons, 15 granddaughters, 11 great-grandsons, 12 great-granddaughters, 1 great-great grandson; her sisters Blanca Zuniga and Silvia Prieto; her brother Antonio Soto; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Manuel Díaz Loera. A viewing will be held at Green Hills Chapel on February 24 at 5:30 PM, followed by the funeral on February 25 at 2:00 PM. She will be deeply missed but will remain forever in our hearts.
