Born January 20, 1924 in Brattleboro, Vermont, Howard A. Johnson passed away peacefully at Torrance Memorial Hospital on September 15, 2012.
A Rancho Palos Verdes resident since 1972, he is survived by his wife Simonetta (Simmy), sons Byron, David and daughter Jennifer Briggs, and eight grand children. Howard enlisted in the Army for active service in World War II on March 16, 1943 with the 295th Combat Engineers Battalion touring England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany with his honorable discharge December 1, 1945.
He was married to Simonetta on November 12, 1 949 in Connecticut.He spent most of his working career with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft which started in Connecticut and then California, Texas, South Carolina, Florida, Spain & Germany. Back to Connecticut he received a promotion covering the Western area in 1972 and moved with his family to California. Howard retired in 1981 and enjoyed Cruises to many parts of the World with his wife. Also enjoyed his children and grandchildren.
On September 22, 2012 a fitting presentation at the gravesite was performed at Green Hills Cemetery, including a Military gun salute, taps and folding of the flag by veterans of World War II.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
