Hortencia Soto

Hortencia (Ordey) Soto, 89, left this life to rejoin her deceased loved ones on January 11, 2016 in Lomita, California. She was born to the late Guadalupe and Gregoria Maynez in El Paso, Texas on April 8, 1926. Raised in Wilmington, Ordey attended Wilmington Park Elementary and Banning High School. She was a member of the Wilmington VFW Post 2967 Women's Auxiliary. She was an active member, one of the founders, and a past president of the Wilmington Senior's Sunshine Club. She also enjoyed her time as the president and member of the Wilmington VFW Senior's Club. Ordey can be remembered for her love of family, friends, gardening, and dancing. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, James Soto of Wilmington; her children Daniel (Gloria) Gutierrez and Michael (Susan) Gutierrez; grandchildren, Paul (Bekki) Flint, Michael (Kim) Gonzales, Gina (JB) Hoover and Jamie Gutierrez; great-grandchildren Samantha, Candice, Nick, Elizabeth, Giselle, Anthony, Joseph, and Serina. Ordey is preceded in death by her son, Alfredo (Freddie) Gutierrez and her first husband, Fred Gutierrez. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Green Hills Mortuary at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held at Green Hills on Tuesday, January 19 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
