Minnie Alvarez was born on January 9, 1922 in Las Vegas New Mexico and the eldest of eight siblings.
Her family then moved to Las Animas Colorado where she met the “love of her life” Chava Alvarez. They were married and had three daughters: Connie Barreras, Mena Moreno, and Genevieve Alvarez.
The Alvarez family moved to California in 1952 and settle down in Torrance. Minnie was a homemaker. She stayed home to take care of the family by baking delicious pies; keeping the house ready for her family and any visitors; she taught her children how to roller skate, sew, crochet and to have a good heart. She was a loving wife and mother. Minnie had the hardest job in the world and she made it look easy.
She leaves behind three daughters, Connie Barreras (Sam), Mena Moreno (John) and Genevieve Alvarez. Three grandchildren, Margaret Lisa Barreras, Aaron Barreras and Sarah Koyo Moreno; one Great Granddaughter, Chelsea; and 5 great grandchildren, Samuel, Tony, Duke, Amelia and Jesus (J.D.). She also leaves her sisters, Sally, Jean and Madge and one brother, Pat Ortiz (Gen) along with many many nieces and nephews.
She will be missed but she will always be loved.
