Herman Jerry Rose, age 93, passed away on October 9, 2015 in Hollywood, CA. He was born on October 8, 1922 in Calexico, CA. to a family with 4 sisters and 1 brother.
Jerry lived in Wilmington and Harbor City since his early youth. He graduated from Banning High School in 1940. Then he joined the Army Air Corps during WWII in England, where he worked as an Airplane Mechanic on B17s. After leaving the Army Air Corps, he worked on turbines for a few years at General Electric. His main career for 30 years was a Merchant Marine for Chevron Oil Company, where he was the Chief Engineer on different ships. Jerry was a member of Rolling Hills Covenant Church, the Masons of California and the Elks Lodge of San Pedro.
Jerry is survived by many family members. They include his son and daughter-in-law - Gary and Lynda Huddleston, his daughter-in-law Denise Huddleston, his grandchildren - Tina (Scott) Lazar, Kristen Cuciti, Eric Lock and Brian Huddleston and his great-grandchildren – Tyler and Cole Winters and Samantha Lazar.
A viewing will be held from 3pm – 8pm on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Green Hills Memorial Park. A ceremony will be held at the same location at 1pm on Monday, October 19, 2015. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to The Wounded Warriors Project in Jerry's name.
