Herbert Suer, lovingly known as Herb, passed away peacefully at the age of 98, leaving behind a legacy of brilliance, kindness, and an unwavering zest for life. A devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he was the proud patriarch of a large and loving family—father to six, father- in-law to three, grandfather to eleven, great-grandfather to three, and uncle to his two nieces.
Herb was a man of intellect and curiosity, earning his Ph.D. in engineering from MIT and dedicating his life to science, innovation, and problem-solving. Whether in the office, at the dinner table, or sharing stories over a steaming cup of coffee (which, of course, had to be hot), Herb's wisdom and humor were ever-present. He approached life with the same precision and passion that he brought to his work, always striving to learn, create, and inspire those around him.
But beyond his academic and professional achievements, Herb was, above all, a loving father and a fun-loving soul. He believed in laughter, good conversation, and the simple joys of life— like a crisp glass of cold wine at the end of the day. His warmth, generosity, and sharp wit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Herb's legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the knowledge he shared, and the love he gave unconditionally. His family finds comfort in knowing that his spirit endures in every story told, every lesson passed down, and every moment of joy he helped create.
Herb will be laid to rest at Green Hills Memorial Park on Monday, March 24th, at 12:30 pm.
A celebration of Herb's life will be held at the home of his daughter immediately following the service. In his memory, raise a glass—hot coffee or cold wine—and toast to a life well-lived.
