"Coach Solomon"
A wonderful husband, dad, grandpa, papa and teacher, Herb Solomon passed away on April 17, 2012. He died peacefully with his family by his side. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 58 years, Joanne. He is also survived by his three children, Christine Short (Jack), Michelle Bravo (Joe), and Alan Solomon (Irina) in addition to six grandchildren: Erin (Jacob), Jessica (Adam), Joey, Nicole, Daniella, and Elijah. His parents, Eli and Freda Solomon and his brother, Jerome Solomon, preceded him in death. Herb was a World War II veteran who served in the Navy as a Corpsman. He was a teacher at South Torrance High School for most of his teaching career, where he is fondly remembered by his many students as "Coach Solomon". A 1:00 pm memorial service is planned on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Green Hills Mortuary 27501 So. Western Ave. Rancho Palos Verdes. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Association.
