Herbert Jean Griffith of Torrance, California passed away at home Friday morning, June 22nd, 2018 at the age of 72. He fought a brave and valiant battle against cancer for several months.
Herb married his high school sweetheart, Carol Frances Wozney and they recently celebrated 52 years of marriage. Herb served proudly in the Marine Corps from 1966 to 1969. Throughout his life, he loved to undertake new challenges and interests including sailing, flying, motorcycle racing, jujitsu, ham radio, scuba diving, photography, camping and various community service activities.
But what he and Carol enjoyed most in life was spending time with their children and grandchildren. Throughout their lives, they were always going to family events or taking them to their Central California ranch to enjoy the outdoors.
Herb is survived by his wife Carol Griffith; two daughters, Robyn Remley and husband Patrick of Laguna Hills, CA, and Shelly Rezai of Harbor City, CA. He had six dearly loved grandchildren, Sarah Wilson and husband Nathan, of Culver City, CA; Andrew Remley also from Culver City; and Evan, Jake, Luke and Kate Rezai from Harbor City. Two brothers, Roddy Griffith and wife Mary from San Antonio, TX; and Chuck Griffith and wife Patti from Lufkin, TX.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 28th, 2:00pm at Green Hills Chapel, 27501 S. Western Ave, Ranch Palos Verdes, CA 90275 followed by interment at the Green Hills Cemetery. Visitation services will also be at Green Hills on Wednesday evening 6:00-8:00 pm, June 27th. Family and friends are invited to attend both celebrations of Herb’s life.
