Gusta "Gussie" Jane Linebarger

Gussie passed away Thursday night at home with daughter, Lori Savage and long-time caregiver and friend, Kendra Smithhart attending to her. Gussie was born in Strathmore, Calif. and was raised in Lindsay, Ojai and Santa Paula, graduating from Santa Paula High School. Gussie served in the U.S. Air Force for two years after high school, then attended Ventura Community College where she met Robert Linebarger. After making him chase her to San Francisco, they got married August 8, 1959. They raised a family in southern California, where Bob taught at Wilmington Junior High School for 33 years and Gussie was a banker, homemaker, and then Student Store assistant financial manager at Carson High School. She spent those years very actively involved in the PTA, at the elementary , middle, and high school, then at the state level. She was also a Brownie leader, Boy Scout Den Mother, and community advocate. She had many hobbies, collectibles, and loved to go camping and fishing at every school break with family and long-time friends the Fitzgeralds. When Bob passed away in 2000, Gussie moved to Rogue River, Ore. to be close to daughter, Lori and grandkids. She became active in the Red Hat Society, Garden Club, and the Woodville Museum of Rogue River. She loved gardening and the flowers she could grow., especially roses. Lori and Gussie moved to Medford in 2009 with granddaughter, Christina and enjoyed eating out, family time, and movies. Gussie was preceded in death by parents, Carol and Gus Lundine; husband, Robert; and son, Bryan Linebarger. She is survived by brother, Curt Lundine; daughters, Lori Savage and Suzanne Queen; and grandkids, Christina and Devan Savage. A memorial service will be held 11 am Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Green Hills Memorial Chapel.
