Guadalupe “Lupita” Madrigal was born on December 12, 1946 in the town of Coalcoman in Michoacan, Mexico. She was born to Jose and Maria who named her after Our Lady of Guadalupe. At the age of 24, Lupita, strong-willed and brave, made the decision to journey to the United States. With almost nothing to her name, she built a life in the states where she raised her 5 loving children. Lupita was a hard working woman who valued religion, family, respect, and love. Although she couldn’t read or write, she emphasized the importance of education, discipline, and punctuality to her children. As a woman of God, Lupita was a long life parishioner of St. Peter’s and a member of the Legion of Mary. She spent those days praying and visiting the sick and elderly, all while taking care of her grandchildren. As a resident of San Pedro for many years, Lupita touched the hearts of everyone who crossed her path. As a Mama to many, friends and neighbors became family. Her last home was at the Little Sisters of the Poor. It was a home filled with love, laughter, and of course, the occasional bingo day.
Lupita is survived by her loving children: Jose (Alma), Rosalba (Edmundo), Felipe (Edith), Blanca, and Beto (Angelique); her beautiful grandchildren: Kimberly, Alex, Joseph, Fernando, Frankie, Daniel, Angelina, Isabel, Anthony, Jr., Jonathan, Juanfelipe, Xitlali, and Emiliano; and her great-grandchildren: Frankie Jr., Jay, Delilah, Adam, Eli Jr., and Noveli.
