Grace was the firstborn of 6 children in the family. She was married in 1974 to Dr. Indrawan Gani in Jakarta. They have 3 daughters Noviana, Livia, and Felicia. In the year 1998 with her entire family, they started a new chapter of their life in Los Angeles, CA (USA). As an immigrant, a wife, and a mother, she has been through a lot. God also processed her when her husband died in the year of 2000 due to lung, bone and brain cancer. Years went by and now she has 3 son-in-laws and God gave her the gift of 4 grandchildren.
In the beginning of year 2012 she was diagnosed with cervical and lymphatic cancer. She had a very aggressive type of cancer. With prayer and total surrender to God, she was treated with chemotherapy treatment. She did this 30 times (4 cycles). In the middle of the treatment she had a hysterectomy (removal of the uterus). In early October she had another scan and the doctor declared her free of cancer.
On October 3 she experienced short of breath and was admitted to the hospital and was told this was a side effect of the chemo (Bleomycin Toxicity). She was discharged on October 5. However, she was admitted again on October 7 and this time she had developed ARDS on top the toxicity causing a collapsed lung.
After 7 weeks of treatment in the hospital, God had a different plan for her. On November 18th, 2012 she went home to be with her heavenly Father.
Grace is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robertus Indrawan Gani and will be forever missed by her loving children, Josephine Noviana Kusuma Gani, Livia Regina Kusuma Gani and husband Wengki Wenarko, Felicia Juanita Kusuma Gani and husband Laury Santoso and grandchildren, Gabrielle Kusuma Allen, Justin Aaron Allen, Abbas June and Rylan Oliver Santoso.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 30, 2012 from 5 – 9pm with a Memorial Service on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 11:00am at Green Hills Memorial Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
