Gloria J. Larkin

February 26, 1947 — February 11, 2015

Gloria Jean Larkin was born and raised in Long Beach California by her mother Flo Zola Bumgarner and by her father Eugene Robert Bumgarner. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Attorney Peter Larkin, two wonderful sons, Greg Robert Newman and Kirk William Newman, and the loves of her life her two grandchildren, Ty Kingston Newman and Sequoia Zola Newman as well as her father Eugene Bumgarner (99 years young). Gloria worked in the courts of San Pedro and Torrance for 20 years until she retired in 1995. After retiring she was able to spend more time with her family and travel. She went back to school and obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from California State University Dominguez Hills. Mentoring and mothering were most important to her. Over the years, 30 plus children (friends and relatives) were welcomed in her home for as long as they needed to be there while trying to better themselves. She was an inspiration for all. She was "Mom" to everyone. Gloria and Peter traveled the world and saw more in a life time than most will ever see; sunset on a tropical beach with a nice glass of wine and her latest book, climbing ruins in Mexico, walking on the Great Wall of China, she was all in. She was a very vivacious woman who loved to make people laugh and be happy. She would laugh with us, but not want us to cry for her. We will always remember her, because she will forever be in our hearts. Services will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park on March 2, 2015. Viewing will be from 9:00 am followed by a graveside service at 12:00.
