Glenn Lampa Ballon passed away peacefully on June 24, 2023, at Kaiser Permanente Riverside Medical Center where he was surrounded by family members. He was only 54 years old. He will be greatly missed.
Glenn was born on July 29, 1968 in Long Beach, California, to Glicer and Conchita Ballon. He was the youngest of three children. He attended Carson High School and was a member of the renowned “Blue Thunder” Marching Band where he played the tenor saxophone. Glenn was also one of the members of the infamous Unique Technique Productions, a DJ crew that started in 1983 and is still in existence. By day, Glenn worked as a computer operator until he had to quit due to kidney failure. After 20+ years of dialysis, he finally received a kidney transplant in 2020 but unfortunately encountered complications a few months later and had to restart dialysis.
Glenn was a caring person who loved spending time with his friends and family. He enjoyed fishing, recreational shooting, camping and music. He loved the beach and the smell of the ocean. He loved watching sports and cheering on his Los Angeles Dodgers, Lakers, and Kings. He was a huge Rams fan even before they moved to St. Louis, but he also supported the Chargers after they relocated back to Los Angeles. In his words, “LA is LA. Gotta represent.”
Glenn was diagnosed with liver cancer in early June 2023 but only immediate family were aware. He did not want to tell friends and relatives because he didn’t want to worry them. His sisters started planning a birthday celebration for him to be held on July 29, but he deteriorated quickly within a span of three weeks.
Glenn is survived by his mother, Conchita; his sisters Gladys and Connie, and nephews and nieces: Ryan, Marissa, Cynthia, Reina and Noah. He is also survived by two grandnieces Arya and Avery who lovingly called him “Grandpa”. Glenn is preceded in death by his father, Glicer.
Rest in peace, our dear Glenn. God bless your soul. You will forever be in our hearts.
Visitation will be held at Greens Hill Mortuary on Monday, July 3 and Wednesday, July 5 from 4:30pm to 8:30pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Philomena Church in Carson on Thursday, July 6 at 10:30am, followed by interment at Green Hills Memorial Park.
