Giovan G. Pilato

May 5, 1943 — July 8, 2017

Giovan G. Pilato (Joe) passed to the heavens above joining both his parents, Vincenzo and Carmela and son Vincent after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma on July 8, 2017. He is survived by his longtime companion Karen, his loving son John, Granddaughter Diana, great granddaughter Azura, brothers and wives: Antonio (Tony) and Maura (Carmen), Geraldo (Jerry) and Shirley, Renato as well as his many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephew. He is also survived by his ex-wife Donna and in-laws Tim and Jody.

Joe, a machine operator in the Blue Room of DiCarlo bakery retired after almost 30 years of service. His passion was fishing as often as the opportunity presented and would be found sitting by a lake with a fishing pole in hand catching his favorite dinner: fresh trout. He also loved to play cards of any kind, could be found in his backyard playing hand held games. He loved opera and most kinds of music! He made many friends at Gabel House and Palos Verdes Bowl through the years and enjoyed many sports including college and professional football, basketball and baseball. He was very passionate though regarding soccer and if he could not watch the game, he followed in the sports page. Gardening was also a passion of his and loved to take care of his many volunteer plants, trees and loved to grow tomatoes, parsley and many other vegetables throughout his life.

He touched many lives with his generous heart and will be remembered and honored by his loving family and many friends.
