Gilbert G.Guerra, Sr. passed away peacefully in his home on July 13, 2023 at the age of 92. He was born on September 9, 1930 in Wilmington, California. He served in the U.S. Army and was an active member of the Wilmington VFW Post 2967. During his life he worked as a commercial fisherman; drove cabs for the San Pedro Cab Company which was located on 9th & Meyler St.; was the owner/manager of the Signal Gas Station on Western Ave. & Trudie Dr.; managed the Park Plaza Shell Station on Western Ave. & Park Western Dr.; worked for Joe & Mike's Automotive on 20th & Pacific Ave., San Pedro; was a member of the Teamsters Union driving truck for Harbor Ship Supply, and a retired as a longshoreman for the ILWU Local 13. Gilbert was also a member of The Sunshine Seniors Club along with The Harbor Lights Seniors Clubs. He is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia A. Guerra, after 66 years of marriage; his son Gilbert G. Guerra, Jr.; and daughter Kathleen (Kiki) Guerra Herbst. Gilbert is survived by daughter Patricia (Larkin) York, sons Anthony (Susan) Guerra, and Joseph Guerra; grandchildren Yvette Sullivan, Laura & Lisa Guerra, Matthew Eastridge & Michael (Karen) Carlson. Great grandchildren Angelina & Alexandria Guerra, & Kevin Sullivan, along with great, great granddaughter Karoline Carlson. We would also like to thank Erma Campos for all her years of caring for our Father. A viewing will be held at Green Hills, 27501 S. Western Ave., San Pedro, CA on Monday, July 31, 2023 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Memorial Services will be held at Green Hills, Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. There will be A Celebration of Life at Raffaello Ristorante, 457 W. 7th St., San Pedro, CA starting at 1:30 p.m.
