Gertrude Louise "Trudy" Hesse

Trudy passed away at her home in Torrance CA, September 22, 2013. She was born in Wadena, MN, September 6, 1925. The beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt and dear friend to many, she is survived by her husband of 63 years, Maynard, daughter Kathleen (Perry Cockreham), son Mark (Vickie Loop), grandchildren Mitchell and Kaylie, and several nieces and nephews. Trudy was predeceased by her parents, Anna and Dennis Cokeley, and 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
Trudy graduated from Sauk Centre, MN High School in 1944. She worked in Spokane, WA and Minneapolis, MN before marrying Maynard in 1950. After helping to put him through his last two years of college, they moved to California in 1952. She worked before and after marriage, and raising their two children, as a switchboard operator, key punch operator, in retail sales, and as a volunteer at Torrance Memorial Hospital gift shop and a Hospice thrift shop. Trudy was devoted to her family and to God. She was a sincere and trustworthy friend with a great sense of humor. She liked to travel, to shop, and to walk the neighborhood with her friends where they solved many of the world's tough problems – even some close to home.
A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 South Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. A luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.
