~ Reflections on an Exceptional Life~

Geraldine "Gerri" Lorraine Jordan was born to a loving Mother, Elizabeth Ruiz Velasco and Father, Carlos C. Fernandez on December 24, 1945 in East Los Angeles at Santa Marta Hospital. She was affectionately called "Gerri" by her family and friends and was the second eldest of six children.

Shortly after graduating from Compton High School in 1963, Gerri began her professional career at Los Angeles County Office of Education. She was employed as an executive secretary for thirty years where she was remembered as more than just an employee; she was a trusted and valued friend to all.

Not many can extol the memories of a marriage lasting 48 years. However, even fewer still can say they married a young man first encountered at the tender age of twelve. One day, William "Bunchy" Jordan looked at his best friend, after looking at Gerri and confidently stated, "I am going to marry that girl" and marry that girl he did.

On November 19, 1966, Gerri walked into holy matrimony with William Oliver Jordan. For Gerri, family was a number one priority; she was elated to become a wife and mother. Together, Gerri and Bunchy raised two extraordinary children; William and Danielle. They happily spoiled, nurtured and loved four grandchildren.

Gerri was known for her excellent cooking and homemaking. Even after she became ill, she continued to ensure that her family was well taken care of. As always, standing by her side, supporting, caring, and protecting her was her husband, Bunchy. Bunchy's dedication to caring for Gerri was exemplary and a true reflection of the love they shared.

Gerri leaves to celebrate her legacy her devoted husband Bunchy; son, Wil; daughter-in-law, Tania; daughter, Danielle; one brother, Robert (Bienveneda); four sisters, Bertha (Marcus), Sandra, Esther (Robert) and Edith(Michael); four grandchildren, Masai, Kendall, Nijah, and Lauren; best friend, Jacqualine "Jackie;" and a host of nieces and nephews, extended family members, friends and loved ones. We will always cherish her memory and we choose to celebrate her life by giving selflessly and enjoying a few sweet treats every once in a while. Gerri Jordan you are loved immensely and you will be missed eternally.
