Geraldine S. Medrano

Geraldine S. Medrano (Rusk) known as Jerry to her family and friends, passed away September 20, 2011 after a lengthy and courageous struggle with cancer. Jerry was born March 22, 1938 in Starkville, Colorado was raised inTorrance where she graduated from Torrance High School(1956), attended El Camino College and Dominguez Hills University. She has been a resident of Harbor City since 1971.She retired from her work as an educator at Thrifty Drug Stores in 1994. She is preceded in death by her mother, Minnie Mooneyham; father, Jack Rusk; stepfather, Olin Mooneyham; and beloved eldest son, Bret Johnson. She is survived by husband of 40 years, Dan Medrano; brother-in-law, Raymond Medrano; sister-in-law, Elisa Garcia; son, Darren Johnson (Nancy); daughter-in-law, Jennifer Johnson; stepdaughter, Doree Medrano (Richard); stepson, David Medrano (Thelma). Jerry was cherished by seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was known for her infectious smile, laughter and friendliness. She loved music, and dancing, was a pet lover extraordinaire, especially cats. Jerry was happiest on the North Shore of Oahu and her home at Big Bear Lake. A memorial service will be held at Green Hills Chapel in Rancho PalosVerdes on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 1 p.m.
