Gerald Dewayne Marholz

Gerald DeWayne Marholz was born April 24, 1931 in Montevideo, MN and passed away September 11, 2011 in Torrance, CA. Gerald "Shorty" was an athlete in High School playing football and basketball. He enlisted in the Army National Guard, and was stationed at Camp Rucker, Alabama where he met wife, Bobbie Jo. They moved to California in 1953 and their life brought them to a wonderful neighborhood in Torrance in 1968. He was the owner of Marholz Chevron at 1st & Gaffey in San Pedro until his retirement in 1991. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 37 years, Bobbie Jo in 1990. He is survived by his son, Kim (Jodie); daughter, Sherri (Ernie) Belcher; adored grandchildren, Jason and Kristina Belcher all of Torrance, CA; brother, Clifford (Eleanor) Marholz of Ortonville, MN; current wife, Darlene of Rowland Heights, CA and extended family, Joshlyn Autry, Tayler Kirner, Francisco and Laticia Zozaya, Johnathon Ferguson, Audrey, Luis and Alyssa Arevalo. He was truly loved and will be deeply missed by many that new him. He told his daughter-in-law "The first 80 were great!" I'm sure your next life will be even better Daddy. Visitation will be today, Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 S Western Ave, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275. Chapel services will be Friday, September 16, 2011 at 1pm.
