Georgianna was born June 14, 1924 in Long Beach, California and passed away March 28, 2014 from complications of surgery. Her parents, Fred and Crissie Wood, moved to San Pedro and bought a home in 1928. She was joined in 1931 by the birth of her sister, Isabel. Other than short military stays in Virginia and Japan she spent her entire life in San Pedro and loved it dearly. She would not consider living anywhere else. She graduated from San Pedro High School in 1942. Georgianna worked at Douglas Aircraft during the late 40's and early 50's as a "Rosie the Riveter" and in 1963 became the 2nd female letter carrier in San Pedro. She loved the job, being outdoors and meeting lots of wonderful people. Georgianna touched the lives of many, many people over the years. She belonged to the First Presbyterian Church, was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star, a member of the Elks Lodge, San Pedro Bay Historical Society, Garden Club and many other local organizations she was so proud to be a part of. As she was born on Flag Day, she has always been a very patriotic person who loved her country and her flag. She was also very proud of her Scottish heritage and one of the highlights of her life was being able to visit Scotland. She devoted many years to taking care of her beloved Arthur who passed away in 2006 and her sister Isabel who passed away in 2010 both from complications of Alzheimers. Georgianna is survived by her daughter Crissie (Jimmie) Hull, San Pedro, grandson Anton Funtek (Sara), Las Vegas, NV and many, many close friends. She will forever be in our hearts and missed more than words can describe. We lost not only a Mother and Grandmother but a best friend. The family wishes to thank the staff of Providence Little Company of Mary San Pedro, Critical Care Unit and Palliative Care, for the incredible support and care they gave her during her stay. Vera, you rock! Kris and Rick, love you guys! Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 1, 2014 from 3pm to 8pm at Green Hills, services on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 1pm at Green Hills with interment immediately following. A reception will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 731 So. Averill St, San Pedro following cemetery interment.
