George Mateljan, Jr. an entrepreneur and pioneer of healthy eating in America, a man whose roots originate from Croatia, has passed away at the age of 90.
After moving to the USA, he saw the shortcomings of the hectic life and fast food common to the American lifestyle. This prompted him to found Health Valley Natural Foods, one of the leading health food companies of the original health food boon of the 1970’s.
After selling the company, which had been operating successfully for 30 years, he moved to Hawaii, where he established the George Mateljan Foundation, with the aim of financing independent research on the nutritional values of food and its impact on the body, and educating people about the healthiest foods and their proper use.
A visible result of his work is the book The World’s Healthiest Foods - Essential Guide for the Healthiest Way of Living, the so-called The Green Bible, which has been called “the book of the 20th century" among nutrition experts. He was a visionary who selflessly shared his knowledge and encouraged changes in eating habits that contributed to a better and healthier life for people around the world.
