George was born May 23rd, 1924 in Los Angeles. George married Eileen Burns August 21st 1947. They were married for 56 years until her passing in 2003. George joined the Army Air Corps in 1943. He was in the 423rd bomb squadron, 306th bomb group, 111th bomb wing. He flew 35 European missions as a bombardier and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross medal and 5 air medals. George went on to serve on the Torrance Fire Department for 33 years and retired as captain. George was in public service for most of his life. He saved and rescued many people. George and Eileen are survived by their four daughters, twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. George was known for his love of flying model airplanes, singing in a barbershop quartet, hanging out with his entire family, telling great stories, cooking, and fishing. He was an amazing father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A viewing will be held at August 6th 2013 at Green Hills Mortuary, 27501 S. Western Ave. Rancho Palos Verdes, Ca on Aug 6 from 5pm to 9pm.
