Gary Eugene Bell

January 22, 1952 — March 12, 2023

Gary Eugene Bell of San Pedro, California passed away peacefully at the age of 71 on March 12,2023 surrounded by his family. He was born in San Pedro, California, The son of Sylvia Richelli and Troy Bell. Gary grew up attending 15th Street Elementary, Dana Middle School, and graduated in 1970 from San Pedro High School. Growing up in San Pedro, Gary formed life long friendship’s. In the early 70’s , like many young Pedro boy’s, he was in a club named the Brown Eyed Boys. They spent many nights hanging out in the old infamous buildings on Beacon Street, Point Fermin Park, and endless weekends cruising Pacific Ave in his 54’ Chevy. Those were some of the most memorable years in his life. Gary was a hard worker having several local jobs working for Continental Can Company, DiCarlo’s Bakery, & Bolstad Engineering before becoming an Engineer on a commercial fishing boat named the Mauritania. Fishing was a passion of Gary’s and after a decade of fishing, he decided to stay home to be with his young family. He began his career in 1990 working as a mechanic for ILWU Local 13 and ended his career as a Marine Clerk for Local 63 in the Ports of Los Angeles/Long Beach. Many of Gary’s favorite times were spent traveling. He enjoyed visiting Palm Desert, and sailing on cruises, eating at nice restaurants, having holidays at his home, watching USC football and of course the Los Angeles Dodgers. His pride and joy was his family of three children & five grandchildren. Gary is survived by his wife Melinda, children Kevin (Lisa) Bell, Jessica (Joshua) Cisneros, and Karla Bell. Siblings-Brian Bell, and Gail Bell. Grandchildren-Riley Bell, Kacey Lawson, Kayla, Kruz, and Tess Cisneros. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Troy Bell & Syliva Richelli Tuxen. Sisters, Kathleen (Bell) Frink, Norma (Bell) Owenby, and granddaughter Kataryna Bell. Services will be held on April 7, 2023 at Green Hills Memorial Park at 11:30am.
