Fumiko Nihonyanagi Shieh was born on February 25, 1942 in Aomori, Japan. Born to Eisaburo and Soyo Nihonyanagi, she is survived by her husband, Chao-ping Shieh, son Akibo (Michiko-wife, Rena and Runa-twin daughters) and son John (Janet-wife, Calvin-son, Alina-daughter). Married in 1969 and moved to New York City in 1970, she settled in Torrance, CA in 1979. Fumiko loved the arts, whether it was listening to a concert at the Hollywood Bowl, watching a play at the Ahmanson Theater, or creating and teaching beautiful beaded flower arrangements. She loved traveling and visiting new places but she will mostly be remembered for her unwaning altruism towards her friends and family. Having respiratory issues the last 5 years, she ultimately succumbed to pneumonia on May 28, 2017 at UCLA Santa Monica Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Gardena Buddhist Church, 1517 W. 166th St. Gardena, CA 90247 at 2:00 PM.
