Floyd Darl Mead

Born at Jared Sidney Torrance Memorial Hospital on September 16, 1936, the forty year Rancho Palos Verdes resident graduated from Torrance High School - Class of 1954.
Darl was married to Sandra Renton on September 17, 1955 (divorced June 22, 1972); to Sandra Brown on July 3, 1973 (deceased January 27, 2000).
He worked at U.S. Steel in Torrance, California, Nucor Steel (1981) in Plymouth, Utah, Boeing Satellite Systems/Hughes (1984). He retired on December 2000.
Survived by his brother Dale Mead; daughter Katherine Cahlander along with sons Steven Mead and John Mead; Stepson Mitchell Brown and stepdaughters Dana Miller, Dawn Scherer and Merit Medina. His grandchildren: Victor, Morgan, Carina, Corey, Cheyenne, Nichole, Lauren, Kyle, Ian and David along with great grandchildren: Reese, Jackson and Madelyn also survive him.
Darl enjoyed golfing, reading, working crossword puzzles, gardening, traveling and serving as a member of the Torrance High School Class of 1954 Planning Committee. Darl will be joining his deceased wife Sandra in Green Hills Memorial Park. Services will be held on Friday, January 2, 2014 1:00pm at Green Hills Memorial Chapel.
