Fletcher L. Pugh

September 5, 1937 — May 18, 2014

Fletcher had a zest for life and passed away at the VA Hospital, Long Beach, California. He was the youngest of ten children born to Stephen and Hattie Pugh in Grove Hill, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his wife of forty six years, Teretha Pugh, two sons, Matiwane and Mfelme Pugh, two brothers Evie Lewis Pugh of Waterloo, Iowa, Eddie Roy Pugh of Grove Hills, Alabama, two sisters Inez Pugh and Peola Pugh of Los Angeles, one sister-in-law Marie Pugh of Grove Hills, Alabama, and a host of nieces and nephews. Though he was miles away from many of the family, he was the glue that kept the family together.

Fletcher served in the United States Army and was stationed in Hawaii. he was a medical Corpsman and received commendations as a SHARPSHOOTER (M-14 RIFLE), and EXPERT (RIFLE), SHARPSHOOTER (CARBINE).

He graduated from Wilson Hall High School Grove Hill, Alabama. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Masters Degree in Business Administration. He was a lifelong lover of education and encouraged his children and his host of nieces and nephews to pursue education. He loved sports; basketball was his favorite. He followed players from high school through college and even their movement to the pros. One of his hobbies was cooking and he was an excellent cook.

Visitation will be held in Green Hills Mortuary from 3 pm - 8 pm on Tuesday, 5/27/2014, with a graveside service at 2 pm on Wednesday, 5/25/2014, in Green Hills Memorial Park.
