Flavio Diaz, also known as "Gordo", “Pap”, and "Abuelo", passed away with his wife by his side on
September 17, 2024 at the age of 69.
He was born on April 11, 1955, in Mexico City, Mexico, and was 1 of 12 children to departed Josefina Diaz and Flavio Diaz Sr. At the age of 16, he moved to the United States to help support his family in Mexico and lived with his oldest sister Isabel Salinas. A few years later he met his loving wife Veroncia Diaz, and for the next 47 years, they created a beautiful life together in California.
He is survived by his wife Veronica Trinidad Diaz, his daughter Roxana Gannon, son Flavio Diaz Jr., son in law Michael Patrick Gannon, and grandsons Nicholas Stanley Gannon and Christian Michael Gannon. In addition, he is predeceased by his 6 siblings and he is survived by his brothers and sisters Daniel, Josefina, Conrrado, Ismael, and Bertha, as well as countless cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Flavio was a loving husband, father, and hard working man. For 48 years at Hollander Glass he built long lasting friendships with customers and colleagues alike. A master at his craft he enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others, mentoring a few people along the way. With years of an unwavering work ethic, he finally retired at the age of 66.
His hobbies consisted of going on Motorcycle rides along the coast with his lovely wife. As well as long bike rides on his own or with his wife, children, or his cycling buddy Paul. His culinary obsession was also a passion of his. Whether it was trying a new restaurant or sharing his favorite spot with family and friends, Flavio loved all things food.
Flavio was much loved and will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be remembered for his ability to light up a room with his endless humor and comedic one man shows.
SERVICE DETAILS
Visitation hours will be held Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 4:30 pm until 8:30 pm at Green Hills Memorial Chapel: 27501 S Western Ave. Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275. The Rosary will begin at 6:00 pm and end at 8:00 pm.
A funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Green Hills Memorial Chapel: 27501 S Western Ave. Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275. Burial will immediately follow onsite at the Church Yard (white chapel area).
