Filomena Magallanes Quintero
11/14/1919-01/19/2025
Filomena Magallanes Quintero, lovingly known as Mena, passed away peacefully in her home on January 19th, 2025, in Torrance, California, at the age of 105. Born on November 14th, 1919, Mena embarked on a remarkable journey through life. She traveled with her family to California at the age of 6, in a model A Ford. The car was affectionately named the "Fordcito." They lived in California for several years before returning to Mexico. Later in life, she came back to California with her husband Anastasio Quintero and in the early 1960's, Mena made Torrance her home. She remained a cherished Torrance resident for the remainder of her life. She was the heart of her family, deeply loved by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren. Mena's joy for life was evident in her love of entertaining guests with her talent for playing the harmonica. Mena was a pillar of strength and unity for her family-a true oak tree whose roots nurtured generations. Her presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her. A Mass in honor of Filomena will be held at Nativity Catholic Church in Torrance on Tuesday, February 11, at 10:00 a.m. Following the service, she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Anastasio Quintero, at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes. May Mena's memory continue to bring comfort and inspiration to those whose lives she touched so deeply.
